About The Accountant’s Best Friend

I’m not just an accountant.

I’m The Accountant’s Best Friend.

The Accountant’s Best Friend was created to give businesses, sole traders, landlords, accountants and bookkeepers practical accountancy support from someone they can actually talk to.

Accounting should not feel confusing, intimidating or full of jargon. Whether you need help with bookkeeping, accounts, payroll, systems, software, staff cover, reporting or business processes, TABF is here to help you work through it clearly and calmly.

No jargon. No judgement.

Just practical support from someone in your corner.

the Founder

Meet Donna Beddis

Hello, I’m Donna Beddis, owner and founder of The Accountant’s Best Friend.

I’m a qualified accountant, a fellow member of the ACCA and AAT, and I hold degrees in Applied Accounting and Business & Management.

I have over 20 years of experience across practice, industry and accounting systems, including time as a former Xero employee and five years working in systems advisory for an accountancy practice.

That means I understand both the numbers and the systems behind them.

I can help you make sense of what is happening, improve the way your financial information is managed and feel more confident about the decisions you need to make.

Our mission

Why “The Accountant’s Best Friend”?

The name isn’t just there to sound friendly, it’s how TABF works!

Sometimes you need more than someone who can prepare accounts or explain software. You need someone who will listen, understand the problem and help you find the next practical step.

You might be a business owner with messy records. You might be a sole trader trying to understand tax changes. You might be a bookkeeper who needs systems support. You might be an accountant with a team stretched by deadlines, projects or staff absence.

Whatever the situation, the approach is the same.

Come to TABF with the problem and we’ll work through it together.

Everyone needs a best friend in business, right?

Everyday records

Accounting support that feels practical

TABF works with both businesses and accountants, providing consultancy services, general accountancy support and practical help with accounting systems.

The aim is not to make accounting feel more complicated.

The aim is to help you understand what is happening, what needs to change and what support would make the biggest difference.

Business Support

Supporting small businesses, sole traders and landlords

Running a business is hard enough without worrying whether your bookkeeping is accurate, your tax return is right or your accounting software is giving you useful information.

TABF supports small businesses, sole traders and landlords with practical accounting help that can be shaped around what you actually need.

You might want ongoing bookkeeping support. You might need help with annual accounts or self assessment. You might want management accounts so you can understand business performance during the year. Or you might need training so you can feel more confident using your software.

You do not need to have everything perfectly organised before asking for help.

If your records are not where you want them to be, that is exactly the kind of thing TABF can help you work through.

Systems, software and real-world experience

Good accounting support is not just about the numbers.

It is also about the systems, apps and processes behind them.

TABF has worked with a broad range of bookkeeping and accounting software and understands how important the right setup can be. If systems are clunky, confusing or not giving you the information you need, the problem may not be you. It may simply mean the setup needs reviewing, improving or explaining in a way that makes sense.

We can help with accounting software training, systems advice, app support and migrations between platforms such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.

Technology should make life easier. not more complicated.

Working alongside your advisor

Supporting accountants and bookkeepers

TABF also works alongside accountants and bookkeepers who need extra capacity, systems support or someone experienced to talk things through with.

Practice life can be busy.

There are deadlines, client demands, software projects, staff absences and process changes to manage. Even the best teams sometimes need an extra pair of hands or a practical sounding board.

TABF can support accountants and bookkeepers with staff cover, MTD for ITSA planning, training and CPD, systems advisory, software migrations, project support and process improvement.

The aim is to work as an extension of your team when you need additional support, not to add more pressure. Whatever challenge your practice is facing, let’s have a chat. If I can’t help you myself, I’ll know someone who can.

Extra support

Confessions of an Accountant

Alongside supporting clients, Donna also hosts the Confessions of an Accountant community.

The community brings accountants, bookkeepers and finance professionals together to share ideas, learn from experts and support one another.

It reflects the same belief behind TABF.

People work better when they have someone to talk to, somewhere to ask questions and a reminder that they are not on their own.
